Fall 2010 Super Mod Program for K - 2nd Grade

Super Mod introduces children to the game of soccer, while concentrating on developing skills and having fun.  Games are played on small sized fields with 3 players on each side on coed teams.  The emphasis is on playing for fun; there is no score keeping.

There are two divisions: Kindergarten - 1st Grade and 1st-2nd Grade.  1st graders choose which divsion to play in based on personal experience and comfort level.  Players are grouped on grade, school, coach or player preference.

OUSC can field as many Super Mod teams as it has coaches.  Virtually all OUSC coaches are parent volunteers.  No soccer experience is necessary.  Coach training specific to the Super Mod Program will be provided on September 14, 2009 at LBA Park at 6:00 pm.  If you are registering your child for this program and many of his/her friends are registering and expecting to play on the same team, it is expected one or a few of the parents from the group will volunteer to coach.  Interested?  Contact OUSC Mgr at olyunited@hotmail.com

FALL Super Mod Program (Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders)

The Super Mod program is for our youngest soccer players.  Using a 3 versus 3 format for games, it introduces children to the basics of the game of soccer, while having fun and developing some basic skills.

Super Mod teams practice once a week for one hour. Each practice includes time for skill building dribbling and passing games as well as the 3 v 3 Super Mod game.  Super Mod teams play games against other OUSC Super Mod teams from within their division.  The games are roughly an hour long and are 'refereed' or administered by the Super Mod coaches.

Super Mod teams are coached by parent volunteers.  Typically, there is one coach for every 9 players. Children are usually assigned to teams by their request to play with friends, or by school affiliation for continuity over seasons. Teams are coed with both boys and girls.

OUSC can only field as many Super Mod teams as it has parent volunteers to coach them!  If your child and several of their friends all register and want to play on the same team, and no one steps forward during registration as a coach of the team, expect to get a phone call asking if YOU would like to be the coach!  Otherwise, the group might need to be broken apart and placed onto teams that have both coaches and spots available.

Explanation of Fall Super Mod Divisions

OUSC divides it's Fall Super Mod teams (and therefore it's players) into two divisions. The younger division is for Kindergarten thru 1st graders. The older division is for 1st and 2nd graders. First graders choose their division based on personal experience and comfort level.

For all age groups U8 and above, OUSC must follow the age grouping registration format put forth by the Washington State Youth Soccer Association (WSYSA).  These age groupings define the soccer registration year as running from August 1st through the following July 31st.  For example, a player registering for a U8 team cannot turn 8 years old before August 1st of that year.

The Fall Super Mod Program has a total of 6 games and 7 practices.  All practices and games take place at LBA Park in Olympia.  Games take place on Saturday mornings from 10:00am to 11:00am.  Practices are on either Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.  The K-1st grade teams practice on Wednesday evenings and the 1st-2nd grade teams practice on Thursday evenings.
